Willow Baskets
Willow Baskets were made in each village prior to 1932.  Many shapes and sizes were made for many uses.  Each basket we make today is individually made by one basket maker, signed, dated, and tagged with a information tag and a blue Broom and Basket Shop tag.  Most have the traditional removable bottom rim to protect the base of the basket from wear and tear of everyday use.  Our baskets are made to be used.  Sizes are approximate and may vary.  We can not guarantee exact size because willows vary in size.

Reed Baskets
Reed Baskets are made from vine rattan, a product not native to this country.  Vine rattan has been used for traditional chair seat weaving for centuries because of its durability.  It is used for basket weaving today because of that durability in areas that do not have access to white oak or black ash.

A combination of commercial and natural dyes is used to enhance the natural grain of the reed.  Our reed baskets have a natural aged look.

Special Order Baskets
Baskets can be special ordered.  If you have a special basket to be made out of willow or reed, contact us or send your request to us.

Featured Basket of the Year
Each year Joanna E. Schanz, Laura Kleinmeyer, Kathy Kellenberger, and Michelle Schanz select and design a "Featured Basket" for the year.  The four basketmakers weave only 9 featured baskets for a total of 36 baskets.  Featured baskets are signed, numbered, and come with a special tag.  Contact us for information on this year's current featured basket.
